MILAN, ITALY #TRAVELVIBES

I am SO excited to break down my Italy trip! I was in beautiful Italy for 2 weeks and while I was there we travelled to Milan, Venice, Florence, Tuscany, Cinque Terra and Rome. Our adventure began in Milan. However, when we landed in Milan, my luggage didn't. No trip is ever complete without some sort of major malfunction but the #1 rule of travelling is to just roll with the mishaps and laugh about them. Luckily, my luggage was on the plane that left New York right after we did and it arrived an hour later. This gave us time to freshen up and get our game plan together. We flew United and kept busy on our 8 hour flight watching movies, reading, sleeping and chatting (as you can imagine 6 girls are very good at).

MAPPIN' IT MEGAN: I love to navigate and plan and always had my map in hand from the moment we landed! Which is super nerdy but really necessary considering we weren't always able to use our phones. (We missed you, Google Maps!)

FRUGAL & FANCY: First stop in Milan was our hostel- when we planned we thought we would try to be adventurous and alternate between hostels and hotels. However, we were a little mislead by the internet pictures for our first stop and ended up in a pretty sketchy building (It was called The Scream House, after all). The 6 of us were in one large room with bunk beds so it was fun to all be together! The hostel environment was actually pretty fun in the end. We were glad it was only for one night though....

SHOP TIL' YOU DROP: We hit the streets of Milan, the fashion capital of the world, and immediately went shopping, duh. Of course we had to make a special stop at LV and get a little souvenier ;) It was so fun being with Katherine while she bought her Louis Vuitton!

TOURIST TIME: Milan is a a great city and a mix of modern & historical buildings. We only had one day here so we decided to stay around center of the city. We all enjoyed soaking in the culture and interacting with all of the street performers while walking throughout Milan. We ended up in the main square where the beautiful Duomo di Milano (Milan Cathedral) is. It was so stunning and intricate. This was definitely on our bucket list to see in Milan and we walked all the way to the top and had some incredible views from the roof of the cathedral.

CELEBRATION TIME: After a long flight and going straight into shopping and sightseeing we were ready to relax and celebrate being in Italy and the start of our trip! It was also my birthday so we had lots of reasons to celebrate :) We walked across the main square (Duomo Square) to a little cafe and sat on the patio to get some drinks. The waiters here were so fun and taught us several Italian phrases.

Mojitos were really popular in Italy! They were so fresh and delicious- just what we needed after being outside walking all day.

"SALUTE" (eng. CHEERS): "When in Italy, do as the Italians do." We had to try some classic Italian Limoncello! It was a little sour for me, but still tasty nonetheless.

DINNER: We ate at a gorgeous restaurant next door to the cathedral, IL Bar, with an amazing rooftop and view of Milan. We all had pizza and it was ahhh-mazing!

Day one was complete and we were headed to Venice the following day!
