Mattress Firm Marketing Team

Mattress Firm is often in several articles for a variety of things so to write a whole post about one article may seem over-the-top, but this article was extra special to me. For years I have read AdWeek, an online advertising and branding publication, and been inspired by all of the cool things brands are doing. If you're a marketing nerd like me, you know what I'm talking about and also might be a loyal reader. But if you aren't familiar, they share news about everything hot and new in the advertising world and things from brands you've probably seen on YouTube, print ads, billboards, commercials and more that made you say, "hey, that's pretty cool." I would print out articles I really loved or that inspired ideas I thought our brand could try to implement or strive for. When I was in college I always thought how awesome it would be to work for a brand that was on AdWeek and since I've worked at Mattress Firm it's always been a goal. AND THEN IT HAPPENED.

A few weeks ago we were in our campaign planning meeting and it was mentioned that we would pitch our new spot to AdWeek along with some other publications. Well, of course I geeked out and told everyone that it was my dream to one day have an article about Mattress Firm on it. Then last week I got an email from my friend with a subject line that said, "Mattress Firm on AdWeek." At first I thought was a joke because she knew how excited I was at the possibility. It was definitely not joke and she wasn't kidding! After skipping down to her office to talk about "HOW COOL THIS WAS", I went back to my desk where my excitement continued. I sit next to our PR Manager (also my work bestie) and she can tell you I actually SQUEALED and did a mini happy dance, all while congratulating her on doing such a great job pitching. AdWeek covered our recent spots featuring Erik Estrada and Morgan Fairchild talking about how they might be a little past their prime and how your mattress might be as well if it's been a while since you've had a new one. Morgan says, "A good night's sleep should be part of every woman's beauty routine, and making sleep a priority has helped me to age gracefully. The Mattress Firm campaign put a fun spin on the importance of sleep. And like sleep, laughter—which there was plenty of on set—keeps you young, too." The spots are really funny and educate you on why you need to replace your mattress every 8 years. Check the commercials out on the article.

All in all, there are lots of awesome things I am grateful to be a part of that Mattress Firm is doing and I just wanted to share (my obvious) AdWeek excitement with all of you! Overall, I am super proud to work with such a fantastic marketing team. It's so fun to be the leader in changing the conversation about mattresses and educating everyone on the importance of sleeping good. We have such a creative, hard working team and I cannot wait to see what else we do!
