Travel Vibes: Day 1 in Madrid, Spain

Madrid, Spain Travel

Madrid is amazing! Our first stop was the Royal Palace and it was gorgeous. It was a short walk from our hotel (Hotel Preciados). We loved our hotel and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. After touring the Royal Palace for about an hour we were getting pretty tired and hungry. At this point we had been up for almost 24 hours straight after leaving Houston Friday afternoon and arriving in Madrid early Saturday morning. We stopped at a cute patio restaurant near the palace for our first sangria and tapas! I'm not very good at speaking Spanish I learned, but I am trying to practice more and more and I order mas sangrias con mi familia!

We are so tired (and full of tapas and sangria) at this point and go back to the hotel to take a quick siesta and I think everyone was asleep before our heads hit the pillow. By the time I washed my face and took my contacts out and came out into the room everyone was PTFO. We definitely enjoyed our nice little nap and soon were up and off to our Flamenco show! I was really looking forward to this and it definitely did not disappoint!

Flamenco Night in Madrid

The show was at a restaurant called Las Carboneros and we had reserved seats ahead of time. It's one price for a 3-course dinner, unlimited drinks and the flamenco show. So we have lots more sangria, of course.

The flamenco dancers were incredible and right in front of our table so you felt the floor move when they danced. The music was all live and I think I had a smile on my face the entire show. I was fascinated by how intensely they danced and how passionate they were about every move. The group of dancers all seemed to keep the beat with their hands and feet with ease. It was so cool to see them watch each other perform too. They all watch each other dance and cheer them on the whole time which I thought was so cool. I could go on and on but a flamenco show is a MUST!

I tried to mimic their moves following the show but I'm not sure I have them all down....yet :)

We are absolutely LOVING Spain! I'll post more from our trip later on but right now we are in southern Spain in Granada currently enjoying a quick siesta before heading out for dinner!

Thanks for reading All Kinds of (Spanish) Vibes! xoxo, Megan
